PJ & CM Froud were contacted by Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club to carry out turf and drainage work for their golf course, which was suffering from damage to the green because of water saturating the surface.

Our first step included laying boards across the turf in order to prevent damage to the green as we worked. We then brought in a small tractor and trencher to dig drainage channels 500mm deep.

Once the drainage channels had been installed, we piped stone and sand into them to ensure effective water drainage. These channels direct the water to a single outlet and disperse the rainwater into a ditch which connects to a small stream.

Finally, we replaced the topsoil and turf so that the drainage channels were totally obscured from view and fit seamlessly into the surrounding area.
